Lake Ediza

Nestled between the northern side of Mammoth Lakes and the southern stretch of Yosemite lies one of the best backpacking spots—Lake Ediza. Our adventure kicked off with a car camping session in Mammoth Lakes, and I’ll tell you this much: it was cold. Much colder than we expected, but we didn’t let that slow us down.

From Agnew Meadow trailhead, we set out on what turned out to be a beautiful day, making our way up the trail towards Lake Ediza. The higher we got, the more snow we started to see, that made the trip even more exciting. Once there, we decided to test the waters. Frigid doesn’t quite capture it—let’s just say, after that first swim, we were done. One dip was more than enough!
