Mount Langley & Cottonwood Lakes: The Boots Fiasco Trip

Back in the early days, the OG's had a mission: summit a 14er. So, we planned an epic trip to tackle Mount Langley and finish off with camping at Cottonwood Lakes. The loop would take us past Chicken Spring Lake, up to the summit of Langley, and down New Army Pass to Cottonwood Lakes. With plenty of cooking gear packed, we were all set to eat like kings, and with a deck of cards for backcountry hearts games and a solid stash of scotch, a good time was guaranteed.

But the real adventure started before we even hit the trail. With Snyde andMitch already chilling in Lone Pine, waiting for Eric to arrive, they got the call. Eric, in true classic fashion, realized he had forgotten the most essential item—his hiking boots. So, he had to turn around and drive back to get them. To this day, Eric hasn’t lived that one down, and before every trip, the Boyz make sure to remind him: “Got your boots this time?”

Once we finally got on the trail, the excitement didn’t stop. The highlight? The class 3 scramble down from the summit of Langley to the top of New ArmyPass. It was a little nerve-wracking but all part of the adventure. The views were unreal, the company even better, and as always, the scotch and hearts games in camp sealed the deal on another memorable Los Boyz trip.
