Pioneer Basin

This trip to Pioneer Basin was a special one for Los Boyz, marking Mitch's return to action after his heart attack in November 2013. And what better way to kickstart his comeback than with a trek over the 10,600-foot Mono Pass? The hike took us to Fourth Recess Lake, with a one-night stop at Upper Trail Lake. We planned it to be around 20 miles of Sierra backcountry beauty, and it delivered. The scenery was epic, as expected, and fortunately, the whole trip went off without a hitch. Fourth Recess Lake was stunning, and exploring Pioneer Basin? Just the kind of adventure that keeps us coming back to the Sierras!
